Jamesport T-shirts, etc.
Jamesport Museum
is also located in the visitor center. Jamesport was
known as “The Little Giant of the Prairie.” The railroad
tracks ran past “The Little Brick House” in 1877. The
largest stockyard in Missouri, other than St. Joseph,
was across the tracks from the house. By 1920 there were
3 banks and 60 business houses and shops in town. See
the pictures of the streets of Jamesport that aren’t
much different than they are now. Advertisements from
Jamesport stores at the turn of the century, a doctors
chair, bag and equipment, and the old fashioned kitchen
with wood cook stove. Take a “Step Back in Time,” at the
museum.
